Emporium, Manic Mondays & The Barn Gallery

I couldn’t have been happier that my day to sleep in was as perfect as it was today. There was finally a break in the humidity and it was the ideal walking and hiking kind of day. I, like many people, have a strong love for my bed and it’s soft comforting embrace so it was nice to wake up on my own and relax before heading out to find something new to see.
I have been really wanting to check out the Emporium on North St in Pittsfield for a while but for some reason I just never got around to it until today! I had first heard about the Emporium from the designer of Minc House when she told me they were one of the places who sold her line so I was super excited to check it out and find something to buy! We walked in and were quickly welcomed to the store. There was quite a lot to take in, it was the type of place I walked around a few times and still didn’t see it all. The store is also home to the very well loved Blue Q products and the cutest new thing to hit Pittsfield, Manic Mondays with Paige!
The store was full of gift items, beautiful jewelry, clothes, photographs, books, Blue Q, and mini treasures! Not to mention the photography studio in the back of the store where magic happens! You can see the fun they have, as well as their visitors, framed all over the wall behind the counter. It is a place you can easily spend your day browsing and smiling. It is full of local lines and interesting things for locals and tourists alike.
They are also home and host to “Manic Mondays” with Paige. Some of her episodes include chatting with local designers about their merch and taking you on a guided tour through the store and the new gems appearing on north street in Pittsfield!
After circling the store a few times I finally found the perfect thing for me, the last of its kind Minc House Tee that I wore to the ArtBerkshires opening at the Barn Gallery in Lenox!
The Barn Gallery
After stopping home to change into my new tee we set the GPS and headed to The Barn Gallery at Stonover Farm in Lenox for the official public opening reception of 20/21 Modern Style and Studio Craft – group show of art + object + design. I had attended a previous private press event at the Sienna Gallery on Wednesday for ArtBerkshires (click here to read more) but I had never been to The Barn Gallery so I thought this would be a great opportunity to head back to Lenox and check out something new.
We drove through the center of Lenox where the Sienna Gallery is following all of the Tanglewood goers. We drove a short distance down Under Mountain Rd until we saw a beautiful pond with ducks and roosters and an open field for parking across the street. The barn was beautiful and already full of people enjoying the art, wine, and beautiful setting. I am starting to make some friends since I showed up so suddenly in the past few weeks so there were people to say hello to this time around!
After some quick hellos Tom and I spend some time wandering around the gallery, there were framed mixed media on what looked like hand made paper as well as beautiful paintings layered with colors that had things drawn on them by using a tool to scrape off the top layer of paint to reveal the color bellow.
My personal favorite was a fiber sculpture that hung in a corner in the room. I liked the way it was lit, the way it was draped on the floor and the way it was braided together. The wall behind it also created a really cool backdrop for it. The barn itself had a lot of charm and really enhanced the art in my opinion.
After we looked at the art a few times we headed out back again where we hung out for a bit and chatted with some people before slowly making our way past the beautiful pond and ducks back to our car across the street behind the stone wall. ArtBerkshires will be holding events all weekend so check out their schedule here!
I am planning on checking out the Ethnic Fair this Sunday on North Street in Pittsfield for some good food, music, and I’m hoping lots of jewelry! Find out more here! Hope to see you there!

Nicely done. I felt like I was with you in your travels. That fiber sculpture is amazing…..
It looks beautiful! I also think that fiber sculpture is a great piece, thanks for taking a pic so the rest of us were able to enjoy it. I also will be checking out that cool shop on North street soon!
